The nice thing about it, is you remove the points and screw in the Pertronix unit (you need to buy the correct coil to match up with it Summit Racing has them and Jeg's too). The whole set up cost me about $125 and when you consider the cost of a set of points and condensor that's not all that bad because your done fooling with. Reinstall the mixture screw and adjust to the original position. If the idle smoothed out, then turn it in until it runs rough, then back off until it smooths out. If it is still rough then, back off the screw until it smooths out. If it doesn't, then the carb will have to be overhauled. D. It helps keep the wiring harness against vibrations that can get it off the sensor. Step 3: Remove the idle air control valve’s bolts or screws. Now, remove the bolts or screws used in holding the car’s idle air control valve in place on the block. Step 4: Hold the downward-pointing valve and spray the end.

First thing to check is the A/C idle-up solenoid located on the firewall. It is bolted on near the top on the passenger's side and has a two-wire connector and two vacuum lines going to/from it. The easiest check is with a multi-meter. Make sure it has ~40 ohms of resistance between the to connections on the solenoid.

On the autozone.com website there is a procedure for adjusting the idle. Look it up, in the menu, it has isntructions for repairs, That might help you get close to the adjustment. I suggest you don't go turing screws, without documenting the original positions and look to see wha tthey do first.
A/C Idle adjustment Solenoid. Just installed a Vintage Air A/C unit in my 66 Nova Wagon and when the compressor is on, it will idle down and die.My 1978 Camaro had a Solenoid that would bump the idle up a little to compensate for this.Any recommendations on this subject would be appreciated. Mark.
